Lori VanScyoc
Children's Ministry Director
Originally from southern Indiana, Lori VanScyoc relocated to Tucson in 2017. As the Children’s Ministry Director, she oversees our church’s engagement with children from birth through 5th grade in the KidZone, which includes Sunday morning Connect Groups, Wednesday Night Programs, the upcoming Children’s Church during our worship hour, as well as seasonal events.
Lori’s journey in teaching began as a young teen at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Evansville, Indiana, where she was baptized and attended for 43 years. Her passion for teaching eventually blossomed into a fulfilling career.
After a decade-long career as an Interior Designer, Lori realized her true calling was in education. She returned to school, earning a BS in Art Education with a minor in Speech, Communication, and Theater. Lori taught Art and Special Education before moving to Arizona in 2008, where she continued to teach Art and Theater. In 2010, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and quickly advanced to become an alternative high school principal. Though officially retired, Lori continues to work as a national trainer and speaker on Education and School Improvement. Throughout her diverse career, she has also served as a district director of adult education and early childhood programs, life coach, trauma support specialist, and teacher coach.
Outside of her professional life, Lori and her husband of 33 years, Brad, cherish their growing family, which includes six children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her free time, Lori enjoys her passions as a published author, audiobook artist and producer, vintage and antiques dealer, musician, avid reader, and artist.
